Amend the PCR ruling for children!

The vast majority (84%) of the 147 readers who voted in last week’s poll believe that the PCR ruling for children will be another barrier for families with young children travelling to SA.

Only 9% said they did not believe it would be a barrier, while 7% of respondents were ‘unsure’.

Draft health regulations

Following the lifting of the National State of Disaster, the pandemic will be managed in terms of the National Health Act.

The draft regulations were issued by the Department of Health on March 14 and the public has until April 15 to comment on them.

There are concerns that the regulations, in their current format, could add more barriers to tourism growth. Amongst others, there is a clause (15 B) that requires any traveller exiting South Africa to have in their possession a valid vaccination certificate or negative PCR test taken not more than 72 hours before departure, regardless of the requirements of their destination country.
