#RevivalShowcase: Tillietudlem Nature Reserve in upper Dargle, KZN

Tillietudlem Nature Reserve is 2000ha in extent and is located in the upper Dargle area of the KZN Midlands.  In addition to the spectacular birding, we also have good populations of eland, wildebeest, zebra, blesbuck and a myriad of smaller game species, including oribi, bushbuck, mountain reedbuck and several predators. The farm forms the headwater of the Elands River and 13km of crystal-clear streams feed four trout dams that feature in two very exclusive fly-fishing competitions.

Ogram’s Lodge is a luxurious classic colonial farmhouse dating back to the late 19th century, set under a huge oak tree overlooking several tranquil dams, rolling lawns with a magical feeling of absolute peace. Roaring fires, original Oregon pine floors, sash windows and high ceilings capture the magic of a bygone era. The lodge accommodates 10 guests in five double en-suite bedrooms, either self-catering or fully catered.

Hlega Manzi lodge is a comfortable and well-appointed self-catering lodge with an expansive wooden deck which overlooks the Hlega Manzi waterfall. The lodge sleeps eight guests in four twin/double bedrooms with two bathrooms. A fully equipped kitchen provides all the necessary amenities for self-catering. The lodge is serviced daily. Other facilities include DSTV, electric blankets, gas heaters and braai facilities.

Associated with the spectacular and diverse ecology, the great majority of our activities are nature- based adventures and they include mountain biking, hiking, well stocked trout dams and of course our free ranging herd of Nguni cattle. For those cold winter evenings, we also have the full portfolio of DSTV channels in the main lounges. Horse riding can also be arranged on request.
