Singita has completed the redesign of Serengeti House – its four-suite, exclusive-use villa in the Serengeti’s Grumeti Game Reserve.
The redesign includes architectural upgrades such as an enhanced kitchen and a rebuilt wellness area along with a more open-plan feel and extensive interior design changes.
“Anyone walking in will feel welcome – not simply because the spaces are incredibly comfortable but because they feel like a continuation of the setting – there’s a flow,” said Singita’s Group Head of Creative Direction Georgie Pennington.
The interior decor has been designed to reflect the outdoor environments of the Serengeti, Pennington added.
“We wanted the Serengeti to come into the house and almost claim it. Biomimicry, as always, plays a huge role – our design team has held this as a guiding principle from our inception,” said Pennington.
One of the intentions of the villa was for it to serve as a space to celebrate African artists, Pennington said.
“Our design team curated and populated the walls with beautiful pieces made and created in Africa to honour its creativity and skill. It was very important that 90% was done within our continent’s borders – with only a handful of pieces coming from abroad,” Pennington said.
Each of Serengeti House’s suites features an en-suite bathroom, outdoor shower and private terrace while main areas include an eat-in kitchen, a fitness centre, a fire pit, outdoor sala and 25-metre lap pool.
Services include a private guide, chef and host.
