Springboks given rousing World Cup send-off

The Springboks were given a rousing send-off at OR Tambo International Airport on Saturday, September 12, as they departed for France to defend their title as Rugby World Cup Champions.

More than 1 000 fans were on hand to wish the national rugby team farewell, with the occasion made even more special by performances from PJ Powers, Dr Victor and the Rasta Rebels, Good Luck, Lloyd Cele, Loyiso Bala, Early B, Robbie Wessels, Bernice West and Mariechan Luiters.

South Africa’s Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture, Zizi Kodwa, was also on hand to wish the Boks well in pursuing the William Webb-Ellis trophy. The showpiece starts on September 8.
