Hyatt Regency Harare The Meikles has reopened its conference, banqueting and event venues after a major refurbishment.
The hotel now has 10 fully operational venues, marking the end of a second phase in the hotel’s refurbishment programme. The first phase, involving extensive redevelopment of the ground-floor and first-floor public areas, was completed with the rebranding and relaunch of the hotel in May last year, when Meikles Hotel became Hyatt Regency Harare The Meikles.
The third phase, now under way, will see the complete renovation of the hotel’s south wing, with all bedrooms and suites undergoing a significant upgrade.
Meikles Hotel is a long-standing five-star hospitality operation in Harare, having opened in 1915. In 2020, Dubai-based ASB Hospitality acquired the hotel from its previous parent company, Meikles Limited, and funded a multimillion-dollar renovation.
The conference, banqueting and event venues now include one on the ground floor, five on the first floor and a further four on the north wing second floor.
The refurbishment has included restyling, upgrading physical layout and equipment, and extending size where possible.
One venue is brand new: the former La Fontaine restaurant has become a conference venue, extending into the former adjoining Livingstone Room to offer a space that can accommodate up to 120 guests.
In addition to the indoor venues, the open-air space adjacent to the first-floor swimming pool terrace, a new feature created during the first phase of renovation, is also available.
The hotel’s flagship venue is the Stewart Rooms, which can host up to 240 people for conferences and more for cocktail events.
