SATSA conference to focus on growth post-COVID

Themed around the ‘Green light for Growth’, the annual SATSA conference – held at The Lord Charles Hotel in Somerset West from April 7 to 9 – will also look to members to help guide the association’s strategy as it enters a brave new world post-COVID.

“SATSA’s guiding principle has always been that our members define our direction. As we embark on the recovery of our inbound tourism industry, we believe there is an opportunity for SATSA and its members to collaborate in the promotion of destination South Africa to fast-track that recovery,” said SATSA CEO, David Frost.

He pointed out that, as a collective, SATSA members had extensive experience, resources and knowledge that could and should be leveraged to enhance the awareness and reputation of South Africa internationally as a destination of choice.

Day one of the conference will focus on this with breakaway sessions and new direction development. During breakaway sessions members will have an opportunity to define this direction, providing their feedback on how SATSA members could collectively get behind various initiatives to catapult post-COVID recovery.

“As always, we will still have a jam-packed programme with an inspirational and insightful keynote from Nando’s Co-Founder, Robbie Brozin, as well as insights from our key source markets, the enabling environment required for tourism, how we use partnerships and media for growth, and finally, we’ll take a look far into the future to understand tourism's place in the Metaverse,” said Frost.

Brozin will share his views as a top international business leader with the topic ‘South Africa, Quo Vadis’ (Where to?). “Nando’s stepped up for the tourism industry and South Africa at a crucial moment last year when we were fighting the UK Red List. They provided much-needed financial and business intelligence support and we are proud to announce that they have also joined as a SATSA member,” said Frost.

He added: “With 1 800 point-of-sale locations in 24 countries worldwide, and a large staff complement visiting the ‘home of Nando’s’, there are excellent synergies and possible collaboration opportunities.”

Frost noted that SATSA had cut luxuries to be able to bring members an impactful conference at the best-possible price. “We have retained our lively dinner events as we know you need to catch up with each other in a relaxed setting.”
